My wife purchased access to this site in 2010 and we can't contact Zeer to turn it off. We used the site just once (had to sign up to do that) and have been being charged the 4.95/mo ever since. Zeer-dot-com and phone number are not in service. Can anyone help resolve this?

Thanks for this review! I was just diagnosed with celiac a few days ago and have been on the hunt for a resource for TRUE gluten-free listings. I want to be able to search for gluten-free ingredients AND know that it was not processed on shared equipment or facilities with wheat regardless of 'good manufacturing processes.' This particular database surely doesn't seem to be able to do that. The categories of "Labeled as gluten free", "Appears to be gluten free", and "May contain gluten" are useless to me. There are many products "labeled gluten-free" (some of AMY'S BRAND items come to mind) that also clearly state they are manufactured in a facility or on shared equipment with wheat. I'm making my own list just from the limited foot-work I've done, but I figure someone else must have something like this somewhere? I will not be purchasing a subscription to this for sure.

Hi Thomas!

Price is a very important issue to us. We are a business, of course, and therefore need to make money to sustain growth and keep helping the individuals we want to help, like the Celiac community.

However, we also believe in meeting the needs of our consumers. We are listening and if the price of our product is preventing us from helping the communities we want to help, we will definately consider changing it.

No matter what, our number one goal is to provide the best food information service we can for the Celiac community.

Thanks for the great comments everyone. They are indeed appreciated.

Nice review Sea. I'm glad you presented both the positives and the negatives.

As I said, there are so many people out there doing product reviews that I don't know if a pay service is necessary.

Interesting that in Shannon's comment, she didn't address the cost issue, even though your readers think it's important, and prohibitive.

Hi Sea!

Thanks for giving an honest review of our site. We appreciate your thoughts and we hope to continue to use all the feedback we're getting to make our site even better for the entire Celiac and gluten free community.

You mention a meager selection of GF beer. I agree, right now our GF Beer section doesnt' include Bard's, Greens, or New Grist - plus other GF Beers on the market today. Our big thing at Zeer is offering continuing value. We're currently speaking to all the GF manufacturers about getting their products in the Zeer database. So, hopefully you'll see those products in the next update or two.

As for purchasing products on our site, we hope to offer this in the future as well as many of the suggestions you made about our site (iPhone, website for manufacturers, etc)Right now, we have an Iphone application that lets you access all of our Food Reviews, nutrition and ingredient information on our site, but I believe we are not far off from offering a mobile app for the Celiac community, too.

Our goal is to give the community all the information we can find in a way that is clear, easy to read and will help you make your decisions a little easier.

I'm pleased that you enjoyed our descriptions on ingredients. Those have been put together by our experts in the field of Celiac Disease and the gluten free diet. They have over 40 years of experience combined. :D

Thanks for your review, Sea! Your feedback is extremely welcome and I hope as Zeer grows you'll continue reviewing us again in the future. This was just our first step into helping the community find better products and we're really excited about releasing more features and more ways to get this information.

Thanks for the review. I haven't had a chance to check it out. Initially, it sounded like a great idea. Then, I saw that it was a service for pay. I thought, "OK, give it a try." But really, I got turned off by the price. I might pay that annually, but not monthly.

Hi David,
Thank you! I appreciate your enthusiastic response. It is interesting, but few of the reviews of this service have been at all critical. For the price, I think it is nice to know the negatives as well as the positives. You might be interested in the Clan Thompson download that can be uploaded into an Iphone- I added a link for you. This article keeps growing!
